Alex Hager, LMFT

In my work as a therapist I find satisfaction in helping individuals find peace. Our world may have reasons to feel unsettled. However, there are also many reasons for hope. I find it very rewarding to witness family relationship growth, such as when a parent and child connect. My goal is to be a resource for those suffering from life stressors, normalized grief processes, and loss. Therefore I encourage conversations about areas of strength, successes that are often overlooked, and relational healing that can take place.

What I'm Like as a Therapist

I strive to be attentive and invested. I often incorporate a solution-oriented approach in working with, teens, parents, and couples as they engage with each other and their world. I desire to create an environment where individuals and families feel comfortable communicating and receiving encouragement. I enjoy finding humor in life-situations, include laughter in the therapy process, and I aim to provide a relaxing atmosphere during sessions. I anchor my life-outlook from my faith perspective.

Personal Interests

My great joy is spending time with my wife and two young children. I find relaxation through biking, jogging, reading, and podcasts. I find peace through my faith-life.

“Successful long-term relationships are created through small words, small gestures and small acts.”

AREAS OF EXPERTISE

Couples

Marriages are complex yet extremely satisfying. When working well, couple relationships can be one of life’s most rewarding endeavors. I enjoy working with couples as they learn to process more effective relationship skills, such as enhancing their communication ability and practicing more productive methods of listening and responding to needs. A couple finding increased satisfaction in their marriage is a cause to celebrate.

Families

Family support is paramount to good mental health. I have experience working with family systems to navigate their challenges and increase connection, helping them gain new understanding with each other.

Tweens / Teens

Starting life with positive emotional and relational tools is useful for children as they transition through their early years. My 8 years of work within an inpatient treatment setting as well as 10 years in outpatient settings has given me valuable experience in supporting multiple population groups of children and youth.  I have worked with ADHD in children and teens and am happy to share my knowledge in this area.
