Leah Chance, MA, LPC

I am passionate about human beings and an avid advocate for mental health. I believe each person has a unique and important story that they bring to therapy and I strive to create space for each client to share, connect, and grow. There is great strength and vulnerability in seeking help and I consider it a privilege to assist others in their journey through therapy.

When working with clients, I use an eclectic approach in practice in order to best fit the client’s needs. I view counseling as a collaborative effort in helping clients to recognize strengths, identify needs, understand conflicts, discover new options, set personal development goals, and make informed choices.

At this time Leah is available for telelheath appointments only.

Leah works with teens, couples, families and adults, Ages 16+

What I'm Like as a Therapist

Overall, I strive to be my genuine self in the counseling room; I like to be candid with clients and invite them to be their true self as well without fear of judgment. I am equally easy going as well as willing to challenge clients in the process of therapy. I believe therapy is a place to share laughter, tears, joy, trials, and everything in between.

Personal Interests

I enjoy spending free time with my husband and our puppy, adding to my board game collection, and baking desserts. I am an Oregonian at heart that loves all things outdoors. I am passionate about learning and growth as well as my connection to faith, family, and friends.

“Our greatest freedom is the freedom to choose our attitude.”

AREAS OF EXPERTISE

Trauma Healing / Narrative Processing

I believe in the important of addressing the impact that past experiences may have on current functioning. Using a narrative approach can help to explore one’s life story in a way that can create meaning, reconstruct negative cognitions, and find new perspectives.

Mood Disorders

Each individual experiences disorders such as anxiety or depression differently. I find it important to increase mindfulness around each person’s unique experience with mood disorders and identify practical solutions and coping skills that clients can utilize to manage symptoms. Use of therapy interventions such as Dialectical Behavioral Therapy can help to increase a person’s ability to manage stress and create for effective interpersonal functioning.

Sexual Addictions / Related Issues

I am passionate about creating space for individuals to discuss and work through sexual addictions and related issues in a safe and comfortable environment. I believe sexuality to be an important component of well-being and seek to help clients increase mindfulness and receive support in this area of life.

Families & Couples

Therapy can be a helpful environment to be intentional about growth and healing together as a family or couple. It excites me to work with people as a unit in the counseling room and utilize each person’s strengths as a team. Together we can navigate challenges and increase effective relational skills.
