Erika Phillipo, MA

Mental health is a lifelong journey – I like to work with clients in order to identify barriers and obstacles in the way of them feeling like their ideal self and then work together to discover and identify strategies and tools in order to move past such barriers, often drawing on already present strengths. I have a clinical background spanning across age groups, constellation of clients (individual, couples, family), and therapeutic focuses.

Erika works with children (6+), teens, tweens, adults, couples and families

What I'm Like as a Therapist

I have been described as trauma-informed and passionate about helping clients heal and move through challenges and onto more of what they ideally see and want from their future.

I let the clients take the lead, as they are their own experts in their lived experience, present concerns, and future goals. The uniqueness and individualism that everyone brings into the therapy room is what creates such a beautiful and personalized path towards the future.

Therapy is hard, and that in itself is a strength that each client brings with them. Through building rapport and creating a respectful, dynamic, and trusting therapeutic relationship, I like to build on individualized strengths that clients share in order to continue to foster more self-compassion, self-forgiveness, and self-esteem along the way.

Personal Interests

I enjoy spending time with my animals; I have 1 dog and 2 cats. I used to play lacrosse and fully support extracurricular options for youth in the community.

You are the sky, everything else is just the weather.”

AREAS OF EXPERTISE

Individual Growth & Self Esteem

As humans, we never stop growing or learning, regardless of age. I work with a diverse caseload and create a space to honor such. Each person brings their own identity, experience, and beliefs into the therapy room – they also bring their own concerns, goals, and hopes for the future. Jointly, we work together to identify and move through life’s variables in order to journey ahead with an increased sense of self, self-esteem, and self-empowerment.

Trauma-Informed Care & Healing

I have many years under my belt when it comes working directly with clients who have experienced traumatic events in their lives in order to create a more comfortable present, which can allow not only for healing but also self-growth and self-exploration.

Family Systems & Health

I have worked with parents and families on their journey to increase communication, increase positive behavioral responses, identify and plan for hiccups in family functioning, as well as to create a space that allows for more understanding and connection.
